Okay all, I’ve been silent for far too long, and I figured it was time to come out with some official statements for the benefit of the (albeit small) community that has formed around the Fresh Ubuntu podcast, and also for my other friends whom I haven’t had a chance to touch base with on a one-to-one basis.
Harlem and I have decided to indefinitely put the Fresh Ubuntu Podcast on hiatus. We may do special episodes from time to time, but neither of us has the time or energy to devote to a long-form podcast right now. That’s the bad news.
The good news is that a bunch of Fresh Ubuntu regulars whom you will know (and perhaps love) have said they will be willing to participate in a new spinoff podcast, the Man Page Minutes. The plan is to take the MPM segment of FUP and separate it. To liven things up a bit, I will still likely cover some Linux and FLOSS news and probably have occasional guest segments. The site is not yet active, but will live at www.manpageminutes.com (and manpageminute.com, for consistency). If you would like to volunteer to produce a segment of MPMs with a consistent theme, please contact me and let me know!
As for the EC Fiber project, I have stepped down from the governing board. Contrary to popular rumors, this was not because of any sort of brouhaha or political issue, etc. with the project. I had to do this because I am no longer living in the town of Stockbridge, Vermont. This is because…
I filed for divorce last month. My wife and I have differences which we will not be able to work out. I will not go into any details in this space, but I am reconnecting with old friends, practicing Aikido more regularly, and buckling down to study for my SANS certifications to keep my head above water. I do appreciate all of the continued support, well-wishes, and prayers that I have gotten from all of my friends. You know who you are, and I am so very grateful for your support.
